Current TV is hosting this awesome video documenting the story behind Ghostly International, and their dance music label Spectral Sound, one of America's premier labels for forward-thinking music. Sam Valenti, the owner of the label talks about how they started, the concept and their music philosophy. The video also features interviews with Spectral Sound's first lady Kate Simko, Todd Osborn, and Scott Hansen (iso50, tycho).
For FabricLive 41, the duo looked to electro, techno, disco, and even a little minimal for the tracklisting.
Life after bands: an idea with the most negative of implications. But there is indeed much vibrant life, brimming with heart and soul, left for James Ford and Jas Shaw, collectively known as Simian Mobile Disco. The name for their production/DJing outfit sings ballads about their musical history, from the very first word - Simian, a psychedelic indie band that had its moment of taking over the world in the early noughties, with Jas on guitar and James keeping time on drums. Simian celebrated two critically acclaimed albums, globe-encompassing tours, working with Brian Eno (on their second album, "We Are Your Friends," in '02), even songs being featured in international adverts (most notably in a Peugeot 1007 advertisement) but, like all good things, an end was inescapable.
Life before the band: Jas and James share a similar upbringing, despite being raised in different parts of the country. In a small town outside of London, Jas grew up in a house that played "pretty straight stuff" - Elvis, The Beatles, David Bowie - so he'd often find himself on a train heading into the city, on a quest for new sounds...

It's been quite a ride for the man with the mouse head from Toronto and there's no sign of slowing him down. Deadmau5 is on fire! In just a couple years, the Canadian based Deadmau5 has gone from near obscurity to receiving the accolade of "Producer Of The Year" and #1 top selling artist on beatport.
It's said the name Deadmau5 comes from an incident where a mouse crawled into his computer. It's also said he simply chose the name because it was unique. In one interview he stated that he chose the name because he thought nobody would ever register the domain. In any case it's certainly unique and hard to forget once you get yourself hooked on his style and sound. Watch out, or you'll be the one stuck in the trap! Check out his first Essential Mix recorded 7-19-2008.

Conceived in the Spring of 2006 from the minds that brought you the distinguished Get Physical record label to fame; Kindisch (Childish) is the playground where artists are invited to run free and experiment within all the varieties of contemporary House music.
Adoration for House music with no boundaries or borders is the basis for the Berlin based label, that strives to pump fun, freedom and creativity back into the House music scene. A testament to accomplishing that can be seen in their world wide popularity and their tracks dropping into the bags and charts of DJ's such as Derrick Carter, Claude Von Stroke, Lee Burridge, Jesse Rose and many others.
Their site has finally gone online and we have decided to commemorate it with a mix of some of the best moments in the labels brief but potent history. It's an amazing mix of minimal, house and techno beats that flows together perfectly. Starting out with Raz Ohara's 'Witmey Na', smooth vocals, clicks and bells. The maniuplated sounds of a trumpeting elephant. H.O.S.H 'White Elephant'. Moving into spanish guitar strings for the solid house track 'Oragami' by Daniel Mehldhart. This amazing mix celebrates a great selection of releases by a phenominal group of artists.
