Ex-Guns n’ Roses Drummer Steven Adler Is Scaring the Crap Out of Us
Things were looking bleak for former Guns n’ Roses drummer Steven Adler when he was a patient on Dr. Drew’s VH1 reality-detox show Celebrity Rehab … and then we caught the first two episodes of its intense sequel, Sober House. The series, as the title suggests, is supposed to track addicts coping with the return to semi-independent living in a group home free of drugs and alcohol. So far the entire show has been devoted to watching the guy who played drums on Appetite for Destruction sink deeper and deeper into holy crap territory - he entered the house with needles and a package of heroin, left to sober up, and returned more wasted than ever.

techno techno techno
Famed techno jock Christian Smith has announced the relaunch of his once highly anticipated Tronic label. The news has lead to a great buzz among techno fanatics worldwide, probably because they feel that there will be a slew of in-demand re-issues and hot new tuneage around the corner. And they're right.
Marking the re-launch of the Tronic label will be a remix package of the seminal classic Move by Christian Smith & John Selway, which was soriginally released in 2002 on Carl Cox's Intec label. The release comes with remixes by Steve Angello and Dimitri Nakov & Gabe & Ritkam, plus a remastered version of the original. Tronic was founded in 1994 but after a mere three releases, Christian put the label on hold for three years due to his study. Ever since the beginning, the label distinguished itself by releasing material that was suitable for both house & techno DJ's. |

Ultra Records have just released the official video for Deadmau5 and Kaskade’s ‘Move For Me’ hit from last summer - the single was the first track to be taken from Kaskade’s studio album ‘Strobelight Seduction’.
It’s certaainly unusual for a record label to release a video for a track seven months after the album was released but presumably ‘Move For Me’ is gaining mainstream popularity, at least enough to garner a polished MTV friendly video.

No Love.. Parade
There will be no Love Parade this year. The event, which was to be held in the German city of Bochum, has been cancelled due to, yup... again, local issues. It's not exactly the first time the organisation is encountering such obstacles...
After 2006's edition, the once legendary event was forced to relocate from Berlin to Dortmund, attracting over 1,6 million ravers at its 2007 event. The Love Parade was supposed to be held again this year after a long running history of political issues, but the city of Bochum has announced that it is unable to cope with the expected amount of visitors. As a result, the Love Parade organisation has decided to blow the whole event off rather than to look for an alternative location. A spokesman has announced that there will be a Love Parade in 2010. |

The Party Continues.. Online.
Farewell To Indie 103.1, They're calling it quits, on the radio. Indie 103.1 has been one of our favorite stations and we are very sad to see them go. Quality music. Quality programming. And quality people. Luckily, we can continue to listen online at indie1031.com but we already miss it on our dial.
Indie Official Remarks:
This is an important message for the Indie 103.1 Radio Audience -
Indie 103.1 will cease broadcasting over this frequency effective immediately. Because of changes in the radio industry and the way radio audiences are measured, stations in this market are being forced to play too much Britney, Puffy and alternative music that is neither new nor cutting edge. Due to these challenges, Indie 103.1 was recently faced with only one option --- to play the corporate radio game.
We have decided not to play that game any longer. Rather than changing the sound, spirit, and soul of what has made Indie 103.1 great Indie 103.1 will bid farewell to the terrestrial airwaves and take an alternative course... |

Allen & Heath has revealed ahead of NAMM 2009 that it plans to unveil two new products at the technology trade show this Friday.
One will excite DJs, the other probably won’t.
For jocks on a budget, the Xone:22 looks like it could be a great starting product for a DJ set up.
With two channels, Allen & Heath’s unparalleled low-pass and high-pass Voltage Control Filters (VCF), 3-band total kill EQ, and solid faders, the Xone:22 looks like it could be one of the best entry-level analogue DJ mixers on the market.
“We’ve raised the bar on entry level mixer design with the Xone:22,” said Xone’s head designer Andy Rigby-Jone. “It’s the first mixer at this price point to have a full cut isolator/EQ, accurate metering, quality faders and pro standard audio headroom.
“We want to offer the bedroom DJ a quality performance tool and a taste of the professional club experience.” |

The city of Los Angeles has agreed to waive more than $100,000 in fees associated with the Grammy Awards, despite severe city budget shortfalls in recent months.
The LA City Council voted yesterday (January 12) to approve the measure waiving $124,163 in city fees for the massive event, which is set to be held February 8 at the Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles.
Many people oppose this measure, saying waivers should not be granted to private entities, especially in light of the city's ailing economy, reports the Los Angeles Times.
"I wonder if the city of Los Angeles constituents, the voters, know that you're giving $100,000 or whatever it is, to the Grammy Awards," said mayoral candidate David Saltsburg. "This special-event fee money is to provide benefit to the community -- open to the public -- not to be used for commercial private entities."... |
