Richly . Hawtin Clothing.
Continuing in the pioneering spirit that brought you The Cube and Kontakt events, Minus boss Richie Hawtin has announced details of his latest plunge into brand diversification: the Richly.Hawtin fashion label.
Conceived in collaboration with designer Isolde Richly, the range was established in Tokyo back in 2008 after the pair initially met at Berlin’s Club d’Visionaire over six years ago. The release party is set to take place next week at the suitably minimal Apartment store in Berlin's Mitte district. Said to be inspired by the duo's, "shared love of Japanese culture and design" the collection will kick off with a limited run of 100 t-shirts with previews of future designs being aired at the launch. "Perhaps now more than ever as music sheds its skin and evaporates into the digital ether, it needs something tangible, something physical to keep hold of" reads the press release. "The Richly.Hawtin clothing line offers just that by exploring the principles of minimalist design - where fashion and music overlap."
A sneak peak of the collection can be viewed on the Richly.Hawtin website |

Deadmau5 get's tattoo'd.
Beatportal reports this curious photo of Deadmau5, who is sporting a huge neon green tattoo of a pixelated space invader on his neck. Apparently Deadmau5 chose that particular space invader image. ‘So what?!’ You say. It’s just another star getting a tattoo, nothing special.
Except, the image is actually the logo of French DJ and producer Joachim Garraud. A source close to Deadmau5 said the star was embarrassed by the tattoo, having now found out that it is the exact same logo as Joachim Garraud, who has something of a Space Invaders-obsession himself having released his concept album ‘Invasion’ in July 2008. |

Fischerspooner back with Entertainment
Back on the music scene after a four year haitus Fischerspooner is back with Entertainment, the third album for the New York based electroclash pioneer duo. This time around in a unique twist as Casey Spooner says "..the entire album was written with song titles first, music and lyrics second."
Warren Fischer, who composes the music for Fischerspooner, sees the theme of the economic crisis write large across the album's 10 get-your-feet-on-the-dancefloor tracks. Spooner considers it "a record of crisis and hopefullness." He was already in economic freefall long before the current recession. Odyssey, Fischerspooners second album was recorded for Capital Records in 2005, but the label, says Spooner, didn't offer much in the way of tour support. They parted ways with the label shortly there after and are now back to there do-it-yourself roots.
We look forward to presenting the new emergence of the performance-based Fischerspooner May 21st at the House of Blues, Anaheim and May 23rd at Avalon Hollywood.
